Beer Blast Hosted by Barry

When Mr. Obama decided he should get involved in local issues when a buddy of his was arrested at his home, he stooped to a new low. A synopsis on the situation....

A Harvard University professor locked himself out of his home, so he and a friend had to break in. A situation that has hap pend to many of us. Concerned neighbors thought the house was being broke into and called the local police. The police arrived and let him know there was a suspected break in, then proceeded to ask for his identification. The professor flipped his lid and began to shout racism. The professor did show his Harvard University ID card, however continued to shout derogatory things at the police officer. Finally, the professor was arrested for interfering with police business, as he should have. This brings us to Barry. During I believe his 4th or 5th press conference during his first 7 months in office, he was asked a question about the situation. His reply, 'I don't know all the facts...', 'I believe the police acted stupidly'... Big mistake Mr. President.

After this whole debacle, Barry didn't apologize to the police officer, but asked him to come over for a beer. Come again? How classy and dignified Mr. President. You can't admit you were wrong so you let your 'cool' gene come out and speak for you. Well at least it gave you a great photo op for the country to see you in your coolness having a beer. After all, he is trying to teach us something. We can all learn from this whole experience. Want to know what I learned? That when your a friend of the President and you feel that you've been done wrong, the person(s) who did you wrong will get a call from the President. Ahhh...that makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

No one knows what the full conversation was, but we do know an apology was made. An apology from the officer. Are we living in the bizarro world? Whatever happened to, "I was wrong and I'm sorry"? I guess some people are too proud to humble themselves and admit when they've made a mistake.

Walking Blind

It has been a little while since I've written. So much has happened that it's difficult to chose one thing to write on. So here's what I'm thinking....

I watch in disbelief at what our president is doing. It's almost surreal, as if it's all just some big joke. The scary thing is, it is happening now, we are seeing our world change before us, just like he promised. Not the change you expected. I think what scares me the most, is that we're letting it happen. We are walking blind, oblivious to what is being taken. When I've tried to inform my family and friends about what I saw reported on the news, they have no clue, no idea and go about their lives. I want to shake them, to scream, "Don't you get it! Don't you see!"But then I have to think, no, they are like so many others who thinks that Mr. O. is "cool", "better than what we had", "doing what he can to get us out of this mess". Pass after pass, he can do no wrong.

A few things to think about...

**The government now owns GE. They have the power (never did before) to fire CEO's of companies.

**The government has passed a stimulus bill that can not be paid back. A note to all, they are planning on spending trillions of dollars over the next several years.

**The government does not want the wealthy to succeed, for if they do, they will be punished with higher taxes.

**The government wants Universal Healthcare. This means that everyone who doesn't have insurance must get it. In the latest version of a bill, parents will be forced to pay their children's insurance until they are 26.

**The government wants to close Gitmo and release the prisoners into American prisons.

**The government wants to confirm the Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomayor who will rule based on empathy, not the court of law.

A few things to note about the current president:

-He has people on his staff that failed to pay their taxes
-His gift to the Prime Minister of Britain was a pack of DVD's
-His gift to the Queen of England was an IPod with his speeches
-His pastor for 20 years Jeremiah Wright preached on Black Power
-He was a community organizer before he was elected to run this country
-He could not produce a birth certificate
-He chose to not participate in the National Day of Prayer
-His staff went on a photo op over the New York skyline scaring hundreds of people in the streets
-His staff no longer uses the word terrorist
-He said, "We are not a Christian nation" "....We could be one of the largest Muslim nations" (These were not spoken in the same speech).
-His VP Joe Biden has said that money will be wasted when speaking on the stimulus bill. Joe Biden also said Mr. Obama doesn't have the experience to be the President
-He spent 300K to take his wife on a date to dinner and a Broadway show while he preaches to us that we need to watch our own budget

This ladies and gentleman is the man running our country. I ask that you please, please start paying attention. Tune into a news network that gives it to you straight, that reports on what is happening. Don't walk around blind anymore. We our losing our country. We need the government to start listening to us, fearing us not the other way around. We employ them. They work for us.

Air Force One Photo Op

On Monday morning, panic hit the streets of New York when a low flying playing buzzed the skyline. Was it another attack? Is it going to fly into a building? People were scurrying around the streets looking overhead to see what might be coming. There worst nightmare could be happening again. But wait, it wasn't a terrorist, the plane wasn't aiming towards any buildings, what the hell is going on? Ladies and gentleman, this was Air Force One (well the backup for the official Air Force One). Yes, that's right the plane was from the White House.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn0tMMYEkQU

As news got out, Mayor Bloomberg was furious and had every right to be. Who could be so stupid to authorize a stunt like this for a freaking photo op? And who would ask this to be kept from the public? Were they trying to cause a panic, because that is exactly what they did. I don't care if it has been months, years or decades from when we had planes flying into our New York buildings, you DON'T do that. I don't live in New York, but I tell you what, when I see planes flying up above the thought always crosses my mind, are they going to hit us?

Since I don't normally watch the local news, I don't know how or if this story was covered. But if this were a screw up by the Bush Administration, it would be all over the place. We'd see protesters in the streets and condemnation from the news outlets about this debacle. Mr. O might say he was furious when he heard the news, but wouldn't he have to had to know about this? I mean come on, why else would there be a photo op of Air Force One? Of all the weak and wrong decisions he's made since he took office, this has to be by far the dumbest, inexcusable examples of where his priorities are.

My mission this weekend is to ask at least 5 people if they've heard about this to see if they are 'in the know'. So far, all of the things that I've brought attention to and has been widely reported on talk radio and the only fair news network, the only replies I receive are either, "no, I hadn't heard that" or "he's only been in office for a few months." Listen, I don't care if he was in there a day, this is something you don't just turn away from.

So I'm a terrorist??

The tea parties were a success, and the main stream media is still trying to dumb it down. The reporting done by the mainstream media was appalling. One CNN reporter decided to give her opinion and interrupted a gentleman who was trying to answer her question. As he was giving his reasoning for being there, she rudely stopped him saying, "What does this have to do with taxes? Do you know that you're eligible for a 400 dollar..." After he told her he was answering her question, she gave a plug about the stimulus package. What?! Now wait a second, since when are reporters suppose to provide their opinion? Their job is to REPORT the news regardless of your views or feelings. She went on to say that the tea parties were .."anti-government, anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing conservative network Fox."

Other media outlets barely paid attention or made a mockery out of it. I tell you this, if there was a war protest going on, the left wing media would be out there letting the people speak and actually covering it. Where is the fair and balanced?

Since these protests were no big deal (according to most media) why is it that there was an alert given to the police departments to 'keep an eye' on 'Right Wing Extremists'. Apparently I along with many other hard working, principled, informed, gun owning Americans should be on a watch list.

http://www.freedomalliance.org/images/stories/extremismreport.pdf

Read this document. This is frighting folks. I guess our views and opinions are not welcome and the government doesn't want any backtalk (if you will) about anything they do. I encourage you to pass this along.

It's Time for Tea Parties

I can't tell you how excited I am about the thousands of tea parties taking place all across the country. Unfortunately, close to where I live (Cedar Rapids, IA) there were only 6 people in attendance, one of them standing about 50 feet from the others with a 'More Taxes' sign. It could be that either they didn't plan in advance time, or that Iowa has turned so dang liberal.

Either way, I'm keeping up to date on all the others taking place, I just wish I could be part of all the action.

The media is going to spin these protests to be an act of the crazy right wingers, but what they don't get is that the people showing up, are Americans who are fed up. The message is clear, stop the wasteful spending, stop increasing taxes, and start listening to what the American people are asking for. Thanks to the Mr. O. administration, our grandchildren will be born broke and owing the government money. For the record, I didn't agree with the massive spending by the Bush Administration either. How does spending money help the economy? How does printing more money increase the value of the dollar? There is common sense to this madness, people just need to pay attention.

I am thankful to all the great Americans out there who are standing up and raising their voices. We will remain silent no longer. Enough is enough. The Government got our attention, now it's time that we get theirs.

What the heck is he thinking??

Can't you see it? Are you paying attention? I am dumbfounded what the president is doing. Who is he getting his advice from?

What compelled you to give the Prime Minister of Great Britain a stash of DVD's? Are you kidding me? Does he realize how that represents America? Not only that, the DVD is not compatible with the devices in Great Britain, so the PM can't even watch them! How sad.... So, you'd think Mr. Obama would learn by this embarrassing charade, nope, he sure didn't. When meeting with the Queen of England, what gift does he give her? An IPOD!! Oh, and not just any IPOD, it was engraved...ooooh! And, how priceless, he made sure to download some of he speeches on it for her. How thoughtful Mr. President. Un-flippin' believable!

Here is what we've learned about Mr. Obama...

He's inexperienced
He has no idea what the heck he's doing
He tries to fill his cabinet with tax evaders
He's spending us into oblivion in efforts to save us
He has the audacity to bash America overseas
He wants to pass a law so that every single hospital (Catholic or not) provides abortions

All this and he hasn't even been in office for 6 months. And so many of you left wing Obama lovers were so adamant to get him in office. And oh, how he was the hope we were looking for. Hope and change. Hope and change. We got change all right.

We are losing our country and Americans aren't going to take it anymore.

A revolution is coming. Get ready.

House Democrats Suceeded

Looks like the House Dems got it done. This is not a good day for Americans. All though the democrats are playing this out as the next best thing since sliced bread, there is still so much unnecessary spending that went into this bill.

I am proud of the Conservatives that stood against this bill and held their ground. They listened to the people and voted against a spending (not a stimulus) bill.

It is yet to be determined what this bill will do for our country. We know that it is evident that the economy will improve on it's own merits NOT due to this bill. Keep in mind that people will soon be getting their tax refunds back, and some of that will go into the economy. You know that when the increase in consumer spending is reported, the democrats will pat themselves on the back and take credit.

More to come....

Spendulous Bill

Ladies and gentlemen, I am a concerned American. After watching and listening for weeks on this so called 'Stimulus Plan', I've learned a few things.

First, it is about time that the Republicans stand up for fiscal responsibility. For too long they have failed us and spent millions of unnecessary tax dollars. They seem to finally be paying attention and listening to us Conservative Americans.

Second thought, how much of this bill is actually being spent on helping to create jobs. From my first glance at the 650 page bill http://www.rules.house.gov/111/LegText/111_hr1_text.pdf I don't have a full grasp of where all the funds are going. But here are a few that stuck out.

**$2,825,000,000 of which $1,000,000,000 shall be for Wireless Deployment
Grants and $1,825,000,000 shall be for Broadband Deployment Grants

**Federal Buildings Fund, $7,700,000,000 for real property activities
$1,000,000,000 shall be used for construction, repair, and
alteration of border facilities and land ports of entry; of
which not less than $6,000,000,000 shall be used for construction, repair, and alteration of Federal buildings for projects that will create the greatest impact on energy efficiency and conservation

**General Services Administration’s Motor Vehicle Acquisition and Motor Vehicle Leasing programs for the acquisition of motor vehicles, including plug-in and alternative fuel vehicles, $600,000,000

**National Mall in Washington, 9 DC, $200,000,000

**Not less than $335,000,000 shall be used as
an additional amount to carry out domestic HIV/
AIDS, viral hepatitis, sexually-transmitted diseases

******************************************************
As I sit here watching CSPAN live I'm encouraged that much of the non-sense spending will be taken out of this bill. It is not to late to get involved and speak up. It is time that government listen to the people. We need to wise up, pay attention and stop acting like zombies when it comes to affairs that will impact our future.

I will do my part to stay informed and get involved with what government is doing. They need to be held accountable for bad decisions and they need to start serving the American people.

Out of Control on Proposition 8

Ever since the vote for Proposition 8 was passed to keep marriage between one man and one women in over 30 states, including California, the riots have been full of hatred and out of control.

This legislation was voted on a few years back and was overturned by the Supreme Court. The American voters were given a 2nd chance and they spoke the same, they don't want to legalize same sex marriage. So the fight continues. Seeing the vile displays of protest makes me sick. An elderly lady carrying a cross had it knocked from her hands and stomped on. A young woman who is a Christian crusader was pushed to the ground and kicked. A church was ambushed when several protesters shouted "It's okay to be gay" and threw propaganda all of the church floors. When will we say enough?

The homosexual agenda is to force their lifestyle to be accepted. You ask for tolerance, I'd say we've gone beyond that.

We have 3rd graders attending a lesbian wedding for a field trip. If it were a Christian church with a man and a woman getting married, there would be no field trip. There are children's books on homosexual relationships. If a school chooses not to have these books as part of their library, they are condemned. You have gay pride parades through our streets demanding attention to the drag queens. If a Christian group gathers on the corner to try and talk with others about the Jesus, they are shunned. You have entered a church dressed in drag as nuns demanding to have communion, you were accepted. If your group is protested by people carry Bibles they are rejected and ridiculed. You've been give 'gay couple' days at baseball games and Disney World where other families and young children have to watch two men or women make out. You are allowed to protest riding naked on bicycles in certain states, we turn our blind eye. Yet with all this, you still demand for more.

You think that those who reject your lifestyle are intolerant and hateful. How dare you try to make us feel shameful by not accepting your life. Do you think by forcing us to belief that what you're doing is okay, that you will not have to be accountable for your actions?

Those who believe in the Word of God will continue to condemn this lifestyle. We will love the people, but hate the sin as we should. For those of you who don't agree that living a homosexual life is a sin, I encourage you to show me where in the Bible it says that a man with a man and woman with a woman is okay. If it were natural, then how come two men or two women can't procreate?

I ask is that you respect the decision that was made by these American voters. Stop the violence and hatred against those that don't agree with how you live. We have given you more respect then you deserve.

The Choice Was Made.... Obama

We fought, we did our best to get the facts out, and after the battle was over, it was Barack Obama who succeeded.

As I watched the numbers come in on November 4th, I felt angry, disappointed, defeated and depressed. Going through these emotions the last several days, I'm ready to move on. This was an historic election that will be remembered in our country's history. Barack Obama will be our next president, will give him the chance to prove himself. All though Obama was not my choice and I fervently disagree with his policies expressed on the campaign trail, I along with the vast majority of us conservatives will be praying for him and hope he is successful in helping America.

We will NOT stoop to the lows that the lefties expressed during the Bush Administration. There was such hatred, vile, putred and disgusting displays against President Bush. The utter disrespect for this office was uncalled for. It was sickening to watch as the world, the congress and the media defamed President Bush. They should all be ashamed.

Barack Obama has been and will continue to meet with President Bush to be briefed on various issues before he is sworn is as the next Commander In Chief. I truly feel that Mr. Obama will start to realize the challenges he faces and it will not be an easy task. He will find a new found respect for President Bush when he discovers what he's had to take on these past eight years.

There is an opportunity out there for the conservative party to come forward and fight for what we believe in. Believe me, when we feel their are poor decisions being made by President Elect Obama and the democratic congress, we will not stay quiet. We will respectfully disagree and make our voices heard.

Get Out And VOTE

Well it's time to get out and vote. I've tried to make my case and I hope you've given a little thought to the choice you'll make.

We can not afford a president in office that has never had to make tough decisions. We can not afford a president that has known associations with terrorists. We can not afford to change our democratic nation into a socialist nation. We can not afford to punish the corporations that provide jobs for Americans. We can not afford a president that will (according to Joe Biden) be guaranteed to be tested within the first 6 months in office. We can not afford a president to be careless about the strategies in our war on terror.

A price will be paid for our decision. Believe me, change is a coming, but will it be a change in the right direction?

Countdown to Election Day - 1 Day

We're down to the wire, 1 day to go, tomorrow is the day. Time to make a decision that is going to change the next 4 years of your life. This is the most historic election our country has ever seen. I encourage everyone to go out and vote, with the exception of those that are blindly going to the ballot box. It is so important that you understand the reason for your choice.

So, I ask that when you go in to cast your vote, ask yourself these few questions:

1) Who will help our country out of our economic crisis?
**Is it the right choice to increase taxes, especially to the small businesses that employ so many Americans?
**Can we afford to give additional tax cuts to anyone?
**Should people who currently don't pay income taxes get a check from the government?
**Should government spending be increased by a trillion dollars or should we cut excess spending on nonsensical things, such as research for waterless urinals?

2) Who will hold our American values of free democratic society?
**Four words: Spread the wealth around. This is no longer a democratic society, it's socialistic.

3) Who can we trust to make good judgements on foreign policies?
**Should we meet with the leader of Iran without preconditions?

4) Bigger government or decreased size in government?

5) Has this candidate made tough decisions for the best interest of our country?
**Voting present 130 times in congress does not seem to me like anyone can make a definite decision.
**Choosing to stay captive by the enemy on enemy grounds rather than getting a pass to go back home, says something about a man and what his country means.

6) Shouldn't we allow medical care to a child who survived an abortion?
**To say that giving this medical attention 'defeats the purpose' of the procedure is inconrehensable.

The decision is ours to make and we need to take a seriously look at our choices. If you've already gone to cast your vote, I hope and pray you made the right decision.

May God Continue to Bless America.

Countdown to Election Day - 4 Days

It's the Friday before election day. We see polls tightening, packed filled rallies and screaming fans for our candidates. As we listen to blurbs from the campaign trail, there was one that struck me from a rally for Obama. A lady after the 'show' said, "...it is the most memorable thing I ever saw....I don't have to worry about paying for gas in my car....I don't have to worry about paying my mortgage."

I'm sorry, what did you say? Don't have to worry about paying for gas?? Don't have to worry about paying for your mortgage? Well now that's interesting. Whom madam is going to pay this for you? Oh, I see, the people who are working hard and earning a decent living will be forced to share their wealth.

It frightens me to see where our country is heading. Moving on....

Admittedly I wasn't thrilled when McCain was the man chosen to be the Republican candidate. All though he's admirable, he was to me a man in the middle. He didn't represent the strong conservative values that I hold dear. Pro-God, Pro-Country, Pro-Guns & Pro-Life. Then enters Gov. Sarah Palin. She came out and gave conservatives a voice and I was pumped up to rally for this ticket.

Not long after she was announced, the attacks started rolling in. I'm not going to go into all of the rants, but if you've watched the mainstream media, you know what I mean. Problem is, people are buying it and spew off these talking points when I get into a debate.

One example, my niece who is 11 years old was telling me about a debate she has for school where kids get to talk about why they support the VP nominees. She was chosen to talk about why Joe Biden would make a good VP and Sarah Palin wouldn't. She was so excited about Joe Biden, so I had to ask, you know to help prep her for the debate. Here's how it went:

Me: What is it about Barack Obama and Joe Biden that you like.
Niece: Free Healthcare. And he will bring change...
Me: How is that free healthcare paid for?
Niece: Taxes, but it's good because everyone needs it.
Me: Have you seen the Universal Healthcare in Canada and how it has helped them? Question was withdrawn and I moved on.
Me: What don't you like about Sarah Palin?
Niece: Well, she doesn't seem to really know a lot and doesn't have any experience.
Me: And what experience does Barack Obama have? Did you know Joe Biden even said that Barack Obama didn't have the experience to lead?
Niece: No, he didn't say that. And Barack is a SENATOR (this word was elaborated).
Me: Well, Sarah Palin is the Governor of Alaska. She's had to make executive decisions for her state.
Niece: (Dumbfounded look) She is? I didn't know that...

This is when the conversation was stopped by my sister. But I had to finish by saying, "Make sure to do your research."

My point here is, people all over the place who are supporting Senator Obama point their finger at Sarah Palin claiming she has 'no experience'. But when you come at them with what Sarah Palin has done for her state and point out the legitimate lack of experience in Obama, they get angry and get on the defense. After all, Obama is the ONE. He will save us all.

Election Day - 5 Days!

Senator Obama had his 30 minute ad last night to plead with the American people on what he will do for the country as president. In the history of this race I have never heard of a man spending millions of dollars to run an info-mercial on his agenda. Programs were postposted for the ONE to speak. I just heard that the World Series was postponed so that this could be aired! Are you kidding me??

Another recent discovery is a dinner that Obama had with Palestitian Americans including Rashid Khalidi a former member of the PLO(Palestine Liberation Organization). During this dinner some of the men "expressed anger at Israel and at U.S. foreign policy" There is a video tape of this event, but do you think it will be released? The Los Angeles Times wrote on this event back in April http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-obamamideast10apr10,0,1780231,full.story. They came out and said that due to a confidential source, they can not release the video tape. Now hold on a minute, if this were Senator McCain and there was a secret video of him having dinner with members of a terrorist organization, would the video be supressed? Oh no, no, no... the media would force this to be released. The congress might even get involved.

Let's talk about this for a minute. We know that Obama has ties to his long time pastor Jerimiah Wright whom expresses hatred towards America, in a quote, 'Not God Bless America, God D America'. Obama sat in his church for over twenty years (according to Obama went to this church around twice a month during these 20 years) but he never heard any of these types of statements. Obama in addition launched his Senate campaign, sat on boards and held speaches with William Ayers who is a former member of the Weather Underground, a terrorist group that bombed the US Captial. Ayers is not repentive on what he did. Obama also has associates with Palestinian men who are anti-Isreal. Now, these are just some of the known associations he has. Of course the main stream media will play this off as, 'he doesn't agree with their actions, he has condemed them'. This is played off like it's not a big deal. Let me ask this, if Obama was seeking a job with the police force or any other security officer job would he be eligable? No. One of the questions is, 'Do you have known associations with terriorists.' Obama's answer would be Yes and he'd be denied the job. So how the hell can he run for the president of the United States??

How in the right mind can so many Americas swoon over this man? How can they say he would be the best man to lead America? How can you say he actually has experience to make decisions in the best interest of this country? WAKE UP!!! While Obama may give a great speach and entice you with his plan, do you actually think he will lead this country in the right direction? And don't give me this horsecrap that he's better than what we've had for the last 8 years. That is bogus and you know it.

Bottom line, if you're okay with casting your vote for a man who has associated himself with unsavory characters, a man who was sworn into the Senate office on January 4, 2005 and began his run for President in May of 2007, a man who could not make a 'Yes' or 'No' vote, but 'Present' 130 times on the senate floor http://obama.senate.gov/votes/, a man who wants to 'spread the wealth', a man who wants to raise taxes on Americans making 200K (this amount may have changed again), a man voted actually did vote against banning partial birth abortion, a man who said,"I am going to teach them (his daughters) first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." If none of this bothers you, and you can morally cast your vote for this man, then by all means....

I encourage you to please, read, research and open your eyes. This is the biggest election of our lifetime, we can't afford to mess this up.

Countdown to Election Day - 6 Days

I'm getting nervous, excited and fearful about election day. Hard to believe it's only 7 days away. As I watch the ads, read the articles and fumble through the countless flyer's in the mail, I have failed to get my words out there. So, from now until election day, I will write a little each day in hopes that someone, somewhere out there will find themselves truly thinking about who would be the best to lead our country.

I would like some Obama supporter to explain to me the reason why they feel he is the best man to lead this country other then 'We need change'. Here are the reasons I've heard:

1. Universal Healthcare
2. Free College Tuition
3. Change
4. Economy
5. Don't want 8 years of the same
6. Change

Lets look at these one by one. First, Universal Healthcare. Obama wants to make sure everyone in the country gets free healthcare. You can view this as noble, to want to try and make sure people have healthcare available for even those that don't have insurance. Here's my issue. Have you seen how the system works in Canada or Europe? They currently have a Universal Healthcare plan. If it's so good, why are people waiting months for surgery, months to get a tooth pulled? Why do they fly over to America to get medical attention that they need. Don't believe this? Research for yourself.

Second, free college tuition. Now, I don't know if this is part of his plan, but he has mentioned how he wants education available to everyone, and to make it affordable. If we grant this privilege to all kids, how will they ever try hard to earn their own way. I thought the way it works is that the brilliant kids who get straight A's, work their tail off, and reach for their goals, they are the ones who get the grants and the free ride to college. For all the other kids, they might try the best they can, but still have to work, work, work to pay their way for their advanced education. If college isn't affordable to families, well, their are community colleges and part time jobs availble to kids.

Third, change. Change from??? A democratic country to a socialist country? Have yet to hear an explanation of what Obama's change will be.

Forth, economy. Obama's record on the economy is nil. He believes that raising taxes on the wealthy (anyone earning over 250K a year, which DOES include small businesses) will be good for the economy. He wants to 'spread the wealth'. He thinks it isn't fair that someone who has worked their life to build something out of themselves isn't fair for those that are living pay check to check. Aren't we suppose to have our own goals and dreams? We shouldn't have to wait for some hand out to propel our dreams. We have to put one foot in front of the other and make our own way.

Fifth, Doesn't want 8 years of the same. Hmmm. That's interesting. I guess I see something different than everyone else. The Obama supporters rant about how horrible the Bush Administration has been. While I might not agree with all the decisions President Bush has made, he has truly tried to do what is best for our country. One example, it was President Bush that instituted the tax cuts, which I know all of you out there who paid taxes, got a tax cut. Another thing, I thank God that it was President Bush in the White House when terrorists attacked us on our soil. He made a tough decision to fight against them, to spread democracy and help a nation in need of freedom. Haven't we been free from attack in the past 7 years? Maybe you don't think about that. For those of you that feel this war is unjust and say to yourself 'it's not our problem', what would you do if you looked across the street and see someone being raped, mugged or stabbed, turn your head and say 'it's not my problem'? If you don't think it's moral and just to stop a world from evil, then boy, you have a different mind set then me.

To get back to the point on not wanting 8 more years of the same, it seems that since the Democrats took over the house and Senate, our economy started to plummet. Don't get me wrong there is plenty of blame on both sides to the mistakes that were made (Republicans are the only ones to point the finger at their own party, Democrats refuse to point the finger at themselves). But think of this, who was is that pushed the mortgage lenders to loan money to people who couldn't afford to pay it back. The Democratic Congress. Who was one of the strongest supporters and told America that Fannie & Freddy is a good investment, Barney Frank, oh yeah, he is a democrat. Who continued to throw in pork spending on various bills? The Democratic Congress? Who is wanting 1 trillion dollars in new spending? Barack Obama.

Sixth, Change. I've made my point.

No Deal

No deal 228 Nay to 205 Yay in the House of Reps on regards to the 700B$ bail out of AIG. Apparently there were some measures within this bill that are not in our best interest.

We all need to take a look at what this bill constitutes. What were the stipulations? What would the costs be to the taxpayers? I think the right decision was made based upon the floor debate before the votes were cast. With as many objections received, there is more work to be done.

There is worry and doubt among the American people on what our future holds. This financial debacle has many fingers pointed at various parties. We can look to Wall Street, the mortgage companies the unethical spending in congress. For those that place the blame fully on the Bush Administration, you are not looking at the whole picture. There is so much hatred towards our President that it is sickening. I've never seen so many vulgar displays of protest in my life. While I don't always agree with all of the decisions, I do firmly believe that he is looking to make decisions that are in the best interest of the people.

We need to have our minds clear, our eyes open and our ears clean as we listen to the debates that will change the course of our country's history. I will do what I can to keep informed and spread the knowledge of what I've learned to you.

Independence Day

It's been 8 months since my last post, apparently I lost my motivation to write, but I'm back....

First, it is Independence Day, a day of celebration for our country's indenpendence. As we gather around our family and friends to watch the fireworks, let us remember what this day means. It's not just a day for taking a boat ride, eating hotdogs, writing our name in the air with sparklers and watching the sky light up with color...it is a day to celebrate who we are as a nation.

America, we are the land of the free, the best country on earth. We take our freedoms for granted and forget how we got to be the place we are. I am blessed to be an American and love this beautiful land, but I have fears that she is slipping away. Our country is founded on Christian beliefs, and yet the Ten Commandments are not cherished as they once were.

Over the past several months our country has been hit by tornadoes, flooding, earthquakes and fires, and yet I don't know if people got the message. In the state that I live massive flooding hit on June 13th with over 1000 blocks were covered in water, including our downtown business district in Cedar Rapids. This was referred to as the 500 year flood as we have not endured this amount of flood in 500 years. We are strong, and we will overcome. We will rebuild our lives once again, but it will not be the same. Over these past weeks I have seen the strength and compassion of Americans. It is amazing to watch neighbors helping each other, to lend a hand or give a hug. No one was waiting for a hand out from the government, people picked up their feet and took matters into their own hands. We will survive and move on.

When I traveled the streets to see the devestation, my heart broke and my head looked up to the sky. Could this be a sign of the end times? Is God calling his children to come back to Him. He is a Shepard calling for his herd. It is time to allow God back into our lives, our homes, and our hearts.

May we all have a blessed Independence Day as we celebrate our country.

As the Year Comes to an End

It's been way to long since my last posting, but I had to get a quick blurb in. The year 2007 is coming to an end and I'm looking forward to what the new year has to offer. Over the past several months we've seen the Presidential debates, seen the adds and we are now heading into the caucuses. It's an exiting time and I hope that the voters will show.

I am setting a goal for myself (yet again) to remain consistent on this blog. Unfortunately I haven't had the views as I did when I first started this blog. Time to get things posted and news out to the blog world. There are many competitors, many bloggers out there. It will be a challenge, but hopefully I can get a message out.

Have a blessed New Year! Look forward to hearing from you readers out there in the upcoming year.

God Bless,
A Conservative Gal

Cant' Take the Heat??

If you've watched the news this past week you've heard about the Democratic debate that took place on Tuesday on MSNBC. In case you haven't heard, below is a snidbit of what was said

Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21528787/

Russert: Thank you, Brian.
Senator Clinton, Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer has proposed giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. He told the Nashua, New Hampshire, Editorial Board it makes a lot of sense.
Why does it make a lot of sense to give an illegal immigrant a driver's license?

Clinton: Well, what Governor Spitzer is trying to do is fill the vacuum left by the failure of this administration to bring about comprehensive immigration reform. We know in New York we have several million at any one time who are in New York illegally. They are undocumented workers. They are driving on our roads. The possibility of them having an accident that harms themselves or others is just a matter of the odds. It's probability.
So what Governor Spitzer is trying to do is to fill the vacuum. I believe we need to get back to comprehensive immigration reform because no state, no matter how well intentioned, can fill this gap. There needs to be federal action on immigration reform.
Russert: Does anyone here believe an illegal immigrant should not have a driver's license?
(Unknown): Believe what?
Russert: An illegal immigrant should not have a driver's license.
Dodd: This is a privilege. And, look, I'm as forthright and progressive on immigration policy as anyone here. But we're dealing with a serious problem here, we need to have people come forward. The idea that we're going to extend this privilege here of a driver's license I think is troublesome, and I think the American people are reacting to it.
We need to deal with security on our borders. We need to deal with the attraction that draws people here. We need to deal fairly with those who are here.
But this is a privilege. Talk about health care, I have a different opinion. That affects the public health of all of us.
But a license is a privilege, and that ought not to be extended, in my view.
Clinton: Well, I just want to add, I did not say that it should be done, but I certainly recognize why Governor Spitzer is trying to do...
(Unknown): Wait a minute...
Clinton: And we have failed. We have failed.
Dodd: No, no, no. You said -- you said yes...
Clinton: No.
Dodd: ... you thought it made sense to do it.
Clinton: No, I didn't, Chris. But the point is, what are we going to do with all these illegal immigrants who are driving.. Dodd: That's a legitimate issue. But driver's license goes too far, in my view.
Clinton: Well, you may say that, but what is the identification?
If somebody runs into you today who is an undocumented worker..
Dodd: There's ways of dealing with that.
Clinton: Well...
Dodd: This is a privilege, not a right.
Clinton: Well, what Governor Spitzer has agreed to do is to have three different licenses, one that provides identification for actually going onto airplanes and other kinds of security issues, another which is another ordinary driver's license, and then a special card that identifies the people who would be on the road, so
Dodd: That's a bureaucratic nightmare.
Clinton: ... it's not the full privilege.
Russert: Senator Clinton, I just want to make sure of what I heard. Do you, the New York senator,
Hillary Clinton, support the New York governor's plan to give illegal immigrants a driver's license?
You told the New Hampshire paper that it made a lot of sense. Do you support his plan?

Clinton: You know, Tim, this is where everybody plays "gotcha." It makes a lot of sense. What is the governor supposed to do? He is dealing with a serious problems. We have failed. And George Bush has failed. Do I think this is the best thing for any governor to do? No. But do I understand the sense of real desperation, trying to get a handle on this? Remember, in New York, we want to know who's in New York. We want people to come out of the shadows. He's making an honest effort to do it. We should have passed immigration reform.
Williams: New subject, Senator Edwards. You have young children. As you know, the Internet can be a bit of a cultural wild west. Assuming a lot of homes don't have parental support, would you be in favor of any government guidelines on Internet content?
Edwards: For children? To try to protect children -- using technology to protect children, I would.
I want to add something that Chris Dodd just said a minute ago, because I don't want it to go unnoticed. Unless I missed something,
Senator Clinton said two different things in the course of about two minutes just a few minutes ago. And I think this is a real issue for the country. I mean, America is looking for a president who will say the same thing, who will be consistent, who will be straight with them. Because what we've had for seven years is double-talk from Bush and from Cheney, and I think America deserves us to be straight.
Williams: Senator Obama, why are you nodding your head?
Obama: Well, I was confused on Senator Clinton's answer. I can't tell whether she was for it or against it. And I do think that is important. One of the things that we have to do in this country is to be honest about the challenges that we face. Immigration is a difficult issue. But part of leadership is not just looking backwards and seeing what's popular or trying to gauge popular sentiment. It's about setting a direction for the country. And that's what I intend to do as president.
Russert: Are you for it or against it?
Obama: I think that it is the right idea, and I disagree with Chris because there is a public safety concern. We can make sure that drivers who are illegal come out of the shadows, that they can be tracked, that they are properly trained, and that will make our roads safer. That doesn't negate the need for us to reform illegal immigration.

Now I only saw the last hour of this debate in which the above discussion occurred. While watching, I thought....finally, Hillary's opponents are standing up to her. She totally contradicted herself and couldn't answer 'yes' or 'no' to the question of whether or not she would support the program for illegal immigrants to obtain a license. She or anybody who changes their statement within a two minute time frame should be called out on it. Hillary initially said, "it makes a lot of sense." After Russet proposed the direct question if she supported his plan, Hillary went into defense mode and played it out as a 'gotcha' question.

Throughout the debate, many of the men on the panel took it upon themselves to point out some inaccuracies with what Senator Clinton has said. Additionally, Russert directed some 'tough' questions (not compared questions that are given on debates hosted by the Fox News channel, but the democrats refuse to debate on this network) Was that wrong of them? According to the Clinton Camp, it was.

Hillary strategist Mark Penn joined on a conference call discussing how Hillary was "unfairly targeted" by Tim Russert. http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/campaign-call-reveals-clinton-debate-concern-2007-11-01.html. I thought this was a debate and that tough questions should be asked. I guess on one hand we need to believe that Hillary is smart, strong, confident and on the other... she's a lady and we should be more gentle to her feelings. As Rush Limbaugh says, "Hillary puts her pants on one leg at a time just like every other guy." If she can't take the heat during a debate to be THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES how the heck is she going to run our country?

All candidates running should be able to stand firm on their beliefs, their positions and their decisions or at least explain to us why they came to their conclusions. On a side note, the democrats need to realize they are not running against President Bush as you might think they are if you read the entire transcript of this debate. As for Kucinich, well I don't think his true agenda is to become the next President, but rather work towards impeaching our current Commander in Chief. Maybe Kucinich should discuss his issues with his pals flying high in the sky. After all he did have a heartfelt experience when he saw a UFO. He should be able to find some comfort in a galaxy far, far away.

In a final note, I've said it before, but now is the time to really pay attention and understand what the candidates stand for. We shouldn't cast our votes on the sole purpose of a party name, race or gender. And believe it or not, there are Americans out there that will cast their vote based on these things. Here a few key questions that I hope will help you in making your selection. Hopefully you'll take the time to watch the debates, listen to the news and pick up a news paper, turn the TV channel to the news. Granted, most of the media is main stream and will not give you a full story, which is why it is up to you to research for yourself.

**Do you want the leader of our country who desires for a more robust government?

**Do you want a leader that is eager to tax Americans at a higher percent so that the country can indulge in free healthcare?

**Do you want a leader that has a goal to quit the battle on the war on terror?

**Do you want a leader that cares more about the rights of terrorists than the rights of an unborn child?

**Do you want a leader who is weak on illegal immigration?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, your choices for the next President are:

Mike is the Guy!

On Friday night my husband, daughter and I went to Clear Lake Iowa to see the band Capital Offense. For those of you that don't know this band, it's presidential candidate's Mike Huckabee's band. WoW! What an amazing evening. Granted we weren't going there specifically to hear the band play, we're more interested in seeing Mike and the potential opportunity of meeting him.

When we first got to the building we presenting our tickets and signed in. Looking around there were at least 600-800 people there. My eyes immediately focused on the stage to find Mike. We walked around and purchased a few 'I Like Mike' t-shirts (which any merchandise bought went towards the campaign). All of the campaign members we came across were fantastic. They were excited for the turn out, interested in talking with the people and displayed kindness and courtesy.

After we grabbed some soda and a table we watched and listened to this band perform. They were definitely better than I anticipated. They played cover songs and nailed them with what seemed like little effort. I was so impressed with the great musicians, the keyboardist, the drummer, the guitarist, the singers and of course the bass player, Mike Huckabee. They all were having a great time and so were all of the people in attendance. My husband, a musician himself, commented to me on how well Mike played, to which I agreed. After a short while my husband made his way across the floor to the other side of the stage where he could take some pictures. I watched as the band members threw out some glow sticks as the kids swarmed the floors to pick them up. There was a lady who had a whole stack of them in her hands as she made her way to our table and handed them to us with a smile. I thought, 'Wow, that was nice of her'. Now me and my daughter could shake them around along with all the others!

During the brief intermission I watched as the band members came off the stage, right where my husband was standing. OH! 'Is he going to talk to Mike!?' I strained myself to catch a glimpse and low and behold....he was standing right there with him! I was regretting not going along with him, I missed my chance. About 5 minutes later I see my husband heading back towards our table. I asked, "Did you talk to Mike!?" He said, "Oh yeah, I told him we're praying for him and that we're standing with him". Randy also complimented him on his musical abilities and explained he was a musician himself. Mike was very gracious and held eye contact the entire conversation. All though there were crowds of people waiting to shake his hand, when he was talking with Randy, they were the only two in the room. They chatted for a while more and shook hands. I asked Randy if we could go back over there, so we followed as he led the way. We got right behind him as he was talking with a few other folks. Once Randy got his attention, he introduced me and my daughter. I shook his hand and told him how great I thought he was. Let me tell you, this man has the kindest, sincerest eyes. Seeing him at the debates you can see his kindness, but television doesn't capture the authenticity as it does when you're face to face. He was very personable and told me, "Your husband was just telling me about his music". Can you get anymore personable than that? Keep in mind, we ventured back over to Mike about 25 minutes after Randy first met him. Mike easily met another 10-15 people during that time frame, and yet, he recalled the face and conversation.

As I watched the stage during intermission, they were auctioning off some t-shirts, drumsticks, books and Mike's old guitar. The lady holding the auction was the same lady that came to our table with the light sticks. Then it hit me, that was Mike's wife! She too, was a very sweet, down to earth, people person.

Later in the night there were a few performers that came to join in with Capital Offense, one of them was the original member and founder of the band Boston. Another was a female lead singer to a band out of New Jersey. They rocked out to 'More than a Feeling'. Very awesome!

Mike did give some words of encouragement a few times throughout the night along with a few wise cracks. One of the amazing things was that while he performed, he let his band be in the spotlight. Every once in a while he'd step out further on the stage to nod and smile at the crowd. Someone also asked him while he was out on the floor if he could pay tribute to a lady name Joyce as it was her birthday. So, while he was on stage he asked Joyce to join him and the whole crowd sang happy birthday. After rocking out on a few more songs, like 'Sweet Home Alabama', 'Stand by Me', and 'Twist and Shout', the show was over. No one wanted to leave, they were standing around waiting to see Mike. We grabbed a few bumper stickers, yard signs and CD's on the 'Fair Tax' plan and got in line. As I watched Mike with people, he was very personable to all of them.

When it was our turn to talk with Mike again, he immediately knew who we were. This time he met my daughter and noticed she had a cross country shirt on. They chatted for a bit about how far she's ran and he gave her some words of encouragement like a proud father would do. We got a picture taken. This was a very memorable evening.

Seeing him that night only made me feel more convicted to be part of the Huckabee camp. We watched CNN this morning while he was being interviewed by Wolfe Blitzer. Blitzer tried many times to catch Mike up. He told Mike about the controversy written about him by liberals and conservatives and gave about 4 different examples. Mike didn't crack once. He made it very clear that he respected their point of view, even if they don't agree. He stood firm and spoke from the heart.

I know without a doubt that Huckabee is the man to be the next in line to lead this nation. He has showed me time and again that he is a man with a gift of great communication, a compassionate heart and one who holds the foundation of Christ.

Over the past few months, Mike has gained poll numbers and even ranked higher than Romney in one of them. Ladies and gentleman, it is so important to know what the candidates stand for. They should be able to answer tough questions, speak from their heart and hold true to 'saying what they mean, and meaning what they say'. I have witnessed a man who does not seem to change faces based on the surroundings. Mike is someone who is confident with himself, his beliefs and his path. I will do all I can to support and encourage him on this campaign. The decision is ultimately in God's hands, but we all need to do our part and listen, learn and pay attention to where this country is heading. The choice is ours, what will yours be? As for me, I'm for Mike!
